Francis turbine is applied to Low head and big flow power plant. The flow run axially and radially into the runner and discharge into draft tube.
Horizontal shaft arrangement is generally applied to under 2000KW unit, for 2000KW about, usually vertical shaft arrangement is used.

 

Francis turbine has compact structure, and high average efficiency. It is one of the most used turbine type.
